My mission is to provide you with concise, focused, factual information that you can read in a few minutes on important national policy topics and the politics behind them. Our mainstream media is not doing a good job of providing the context and factual information needed to understand our current policy and political debates. Too often, they simply repeat the press releases, sound bites, and polls without providing real information or analysis.
In addition to summaries of facts and options, I plan to highlight patterns and connections that too often go unnoticed or under-appreciated. I will provide links to sources and to more detail, so if there is a topic you are particularly interested in, you can pursue it in more depth.
Ultimately, I hope to help you feel confident in your knowledge and understanding of important policy and political issues. As a result, I hope you will feel that you can make good decisions, for example on candidates to support, and are comfortable engaging in discussion of these issues in a variety of settings in your everyday lives.
Together, we can make a difference.

I have a Ph.D. in Social Policy from the Heller School at Brandeis University. My particular focus is early childhood policy and programming. However, we can’t make truly significant progress on early childhood and other social and human needs until over powering, systemic issues are addressed. In the blog, I write about these issues, which I have been following and working on since the late 1970s.
